Find Design @ The National Stationery Show 2012. A couple of weeks ago, we ventured out to The National Stationery Show 2012 in New York. A cool trade show to attend when you’re looking for unique items, eyeing the latest trends in the stationery industry, meeting with cool creative peeps, and of course– enjoying everything New York City has to offer.
The trade show ran several days and was well worth attending. There was definitely a good turnout of exhibitors this year. The interesting part was seeing the differences in styles of stationery and use of fonts. They varied from the more contemporary and creative to the most conservative. We also noted that the designs varied from the regions– designs from the West Coast and NYC featured a creative contemporary use of multiple fonts and a Miami based company’s designs had a “South Beach deco” style to it.
The highlight for us was meeting all of the exhibitors throughout the nation and also the ones visiting from overseas. We were elated to see that there’s still enthusiasts with the same passion for art and design on print. This gave us confidence that this shared passion will continue regardless of the small percentage of users for cheaper and informal digital announcements for once in a lifetime personal moments. FYI– The sole use of digital announcements (not as a supplement to printed announcements) for your most intimate lifetime moments is tacky. But that’s another blog…
Overall, we enjoyed attending this year’s National Stationery Show and look forward to the next one. New York and fellow creative peeps, we love ya!
